Knossos Palace

The birthplace of civilization in the Mediterranean Sea, the palace of Knossos will offer you a glimpse of the splendours of ancient Minoan culture. It was built more than 4000 years ago and its name derives from the “Labyrinth” created by Daedalus to imprison the terrifying Minotaur. In the afternoon you will be able to do some shopping at the street market in Patelles, then it’s back to the centre of Heraklion and a visit to Lion Square, to see the wonderful Venetian Morosini fountain.
